The Chilean Society of Social Network Science (CHISOCNET) aims to establish itself as a leading international group in Social Network Science from Ibero-America and the global scientific community within the next decade. To achieve this goal, CHISOCNET will unite, promote, and support researchers actively engaged in Social Network Science across Chile, Ibero-America, and internationally. The Second Chilean Conference on Social Networks, sponsored by the LM²C² Millennium Nucleus and co-organized by Principal Investigator Mauricio Bucca and Roberto Cantillán, will take place at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Catholic University from January 6 to 10, 2025.

The 2nd Latin American Congress of Social Sciences and Government, co-organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Catholic University, the School of Government of the Catholic University, the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Los Andes in Colombia, and the School of Social Sciences and Government of the TEC de Monterrey, will focus on inequalities in Latin America. It will be held at the Casa Central of the UC from November 13-15. Andrea Canales, principal researcher at LM2C2 , is part of the congress's organizational committee. El miércoles 13 de noviembre, entre las 10.00 y las 12.00 horas, profesionales del Centro de Datos Transnacionales LIS de Luxemburgo LIS Cross-National Data Center in Luxembourg impartirán un taller introductorio a las bases de datos del Estudio de Ingresos de Luxemburgo (Luxembourg Income Study, LIS). Este taller, que se realizará antes del inicio de la Conferencia TRIADA, está dirigido a jóvenes investigadores interesados en realizar investigaciones sobre temas relacionados con la desigualdad, la riqueza, el empleo y la demografía, entre otros. Las bases de datos del Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) and Luxembourg Wealth Study (LWS) comprenden la colección más extensa de microdatos armonizados sobre desigualdad económica y social en el mundo, abarcando más de 50 países y casi 1.000 conjuntos de datos años-país desde la década de 1960 hasta 2022. The director of the LM²C² Millennium Nucleus Research Center, Felipe Balmaceda, along with co-director Paola Bordón and principal researchers Benjamín Villena, Mauricio Tejeda took part in the 2024 SECHI Annual Meeting, recently held on the 13th of September, in Concepción, Chile. During the meeting, LM²C² Millennium Nucleus researchers Mauricio Tejada and Benjamín Villena presented their co-authored work titled “Working Hours Policy Reform: Micro and Macro Impacts." Their research examines the effects of the 2005 reform that reduced the legal workweek from 48 to 45 hours.
