13 Jan Strong Turnout and Enthusiasm Mark the Conclusion of the Second LM²C² "Summer School"

Santiago, January 2025 – With high levels of motivation and engagement, the second edition of the "Summer School" organized by the Millennium Nucleus for the Study of Labor Market Mismatches (LM²C²) came to a successful close. The academic program brought together 35 high school students (11th and 12th grade) from across Chile for an intensive week of activities to introduce them to university-level study and spark their interest in economics and the social sciences.
Throughout the week, students participated in lectures, interactive workshops, and hands-on sessions led by prominent scholars, including Felipe Balmaceda, Tania Hutt, Mauricio Bucca, Mauricio Tejada, Paola Bordón, Andrea Canales, and Benjamín Villena. The program also featured a special session with Raphael Bergoeing, President of the National Productivity Commission. Together, the academic team provided students with an in-depth understanding of economic principles, modern research methodologies, data analysis, policy evaluation, and the impact of educational credentials on labor market outcomes.
Bridging Research and Society
This initiative is part of the Public Engagement Program (PME)—a key pillar of LM²C²'s mission to foster social impact and community outreach. The Summer School acts as a bridge between advanced research in economics and social sciences and the next generation of students, offering them direct insight into the real-world challenges and dynamics of the labor market.
In this context, the "Summer School" bridges advanced research in economics and social sciences and new generations of students, offering them an opportunity to understand the challenges and dynamics of the labor market.
Participants received full scholarships covering transportation, meals, materials, and lodging, enabling students from various backgrounds to fully engage in the experience. Students expressed great satisfaction at the program's conclusion, describing the experience as "a significant contribution to their personal and academic development."
