Benjamín Villena is selected to be part of the Non-Mining Trend GDP Expert Committee

The principal researcher and academic from the University Andrés Bello, Benjamín Villena, has been invited to participate in the Non Mining Trend GDP Expert Committee, convened by the Ministry of Finance and the Budget Directorate (Dipres), in preparation for the 2024 Budget.

According to the Dipres website, "The definition of Advisory Committees is a fundamental stage in the process of formulating the Budget, in the context of the application of the fiscal rule of Cyclically Adjusted or Structural Balance (BE), since their collaboration seeks to determine the structural parameters that allow defining the level of public expenditure compatible with the fiscal policy target, through the estimation of the structural revenues for that year."

There are 22 experts who will work on the estimation of the Non-Mining Trend GDP, while 24 experts will estimate the medium-term copper price. The inaugural session of the committees will be on July 24th, and they are required to deliver their estimates to the Ministry of Finance by August 18th.
